The Fate Of the 28th Infantry Division

Was it sealed when Gerow was recalled to Washington to be a victim in the political scapegoating inquiry over Pearl Harbour? Between Gerow's problems and General Cota behaving completely unlike himself, the troops in the 109th, 110th and 112th Infantry Regiments were treated about as badly as any American units ever. Given a hard target with an unworkable plan in atrocious weather conditions, the division never stood a chance of taking and hold Schmidt.
