AAR: 4th Solo Chain Of Command

Postby John Thomas8 » Fri Oct 18, 2013 1:54 am

British regulars versus German regulars, both attempting to get to the other end of the table and hold an objective. The Brits wanted the two buildings and the Germans wanted over the bridge.

The British Objective:

The first half dozen or so phases were deploying, then at the top of the table the German 3rd squad met the British 2nd section in the deep woods up there for a massive close combat, Germans attacking with 30 dice and the Brits defending hard cover with 26 (edited after checking my notes, down from 27). At the end of it the German squad was left with it's squad leader and the Brits with a Bren gun, a-gunner and squad leader:

The 2" smoked the German 1st squad into blindness in the destroyed church as the Jagdpanzer makes for the objective:

It came time for the Germans turn 2, phase 2 and the J-P tried to pass in front of the lead Comet and a CoC dice got played. Didn't help, 3 hit vs 3 saves, but it was a neat mechanism:

Half dozen phases later, The Showdown happens:

And all this time, the Brits 1st section is sprinting to their objective, followed by the Vickers and the 1st section. Here we see them occupying their objective:

But then two Panzer IVs show, one stopped by the PIAT while the trailing tank punched out the lead Comet. The Firefly ronsoned the Jagdpanzer but then took two 'fausts and joined the flaming armour on the table:

In the mean time, two of the German squads had made it to the bridge and were in place to hammer anyone approaching, while the last Comet was going to have to deal with a 'schrek and a immobilized Panzer IV before chasing the other one down (the smoke in the upper left is the lead Comet, obscuring the trailing tank: the 'schrek is on the hedge line and the tank ready to shoot has the dice on top of it):

Here's a better look at what the Comet was up against:

When all was said and done, the Brits ended with a Force Morale of 5, the Germans 4

2 turns, 40 phases. About 2.5 hours play time.
